Karen Loeb grew up in Chicago and has lived in Wisconsin since 1988, while traveling and living in Japan and China several times. Her poem “In the Science Museum” and her short story “The Walk to Makino” won the Wisconsin People and Ideas poetry and fiction contests in 2014 and 2016, and her story “Cantaloupe” won an Editors Choice Award in Carve Magazine. She is Eau Claire Wisconsin’s current writer in residence (2018-2020).
