October is National Book Month, which means you officially have an excuse to celebrate your love of books. If you are just now finding out, what are you going to do to celebrate? Here are four ideas to help make the most of the month:

Go to the library
Use your public library. Whether that be Jerome Library or Wood County District Public Library, these are two great resources to continue the love of physical books for free. Being a reader does not have to cost an arm and a leg. That is why public libraries exist–use them.

Buy a book
You earned yourself a book. It does not matter if you are on a book-buying ban, treat yourself for the holiday. You could even buy a used book if you want to save money. Support your local bookstore, like Grounds for Thought or Novel Blends, both on Main Street.

Gift a book
Treat the book lover in your life to the best present ever– a book they want. Always check their Goodreads account or just ask them so you don’t get them a duplicate. If you want it to be more special, write them little notes in the margins–but only if you know they are annotators, because some people find that as a big no-no. Write a note on why you decided to get them that specific book and you will win #1 friend of the year award.

Create a book journal
Creating a book journal is not as hard as it seems. It could be as low-effort or as high-effort as you want it to be. You could write reviews, make collages of the book vibes, make a playlist for the book, dissect the characters, create book goals, anything your book heart desires. At Target they have book journals so all you have to do is fill it out with their pre-made prompts.

National Book Month is the perfect excuse to celebrate your love of reading. So grab a book, find a cozy spot and enjoy a month dedicated to books.
