Her work, both poetry and fiction, has appeared widely in journals including American Journal of Nursing, Silk Road, Smartish Pace, Southwestern American Literature, Tar River Poetry, and Worcester Review. She is a contributor to several anthologies including All We know of Pleasure: Poetic Erotica by Women, A Bird as Black as the Sun: California Poets on Crows and Ravens; Tahoe Blues; Cradle Songs: Poems on Motherhood; Intimate Kisses: the poetry of sexual pleasure and Passionate Hearts: the poetry of sexual love, now in a second printing.
Originally from Elizabeth City, North Carolina, she received a BA in English from East Carolina University and an MFA in creative writing from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She is currently Humanities and English Department Chair at Sierra Nevada College, Lake Tahoe where she is director of the popular Writers in the Woods literary speaker series and founding editor of the Sierra Nevada Review.
