Writers Rachel Cohn and David Levithan collaborated to write Dash and Lily which is a series of three novels all telling the story of Dash and Lily and their romance during the Christmas season. Book one of the series is titled Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares and was adapted into a short series on Netflix which aired in 2020 starring Austin Abrams as Dash ad Midori Francis as Lily. Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares
Lily loves Christmas, but she is struggling to get in the holiday spirit when she is left alone by her family in New York City. In an attempt to make her boring life more exciting, she decides to leave a red notebook full of challenges and dares on her favorite bookstore shelf in hopes that a handsome young man will find it and accept her silly dares. Dash is the first person to pick up the notebook, but unfortunately, Lily comes to find out that he has a fatal flaw; he hates Christmas. Nonetheless, he decides to accept the challenges in hopes of meeting the intriguing writer and owner of the red notebook. The two trade the notebook back and forth across various locations in New York City, never seeing each other in person but revealing secrets about each other through notebook passages and continuing the chase with new challenges each time. You’ll have to read to discover if their chemistry translates to real life, or if the two introverts’ love story will forever be stuck in the pages of the red notebook.
